Cloud Repatriation and Reverse Migration

Cloud Repatriation (AKA Reverse Migration) is a growing trend with Organizations worldwide to move part of their workloads from major public clouds like AWS, Azure or GCP back into private control.

As Michael Dell claims in his tweet on August 27, 2024

Not surprising:

83% of enterprises plan to move workloads back to private cloud from public cloud.

The keyword here is coming back to 'Private Cloud'; not the old ways of doing things manually.

It's all about maintaining the UX and DX (User and Developer Experience) while the reverse migration happens.

Users need to be able to have GUI dashboards similar to their existing dashboards from the large public clouds where stuff happens on the click of a button.

Developers need to have similar REST APIs to continue their automation and Infrastructure as Code and other DevOp activities.

Such experience requires a "Private Cloud Control Panel".

If the organization decides to go for a mix of Public and Private Cloud deployments, then it needs a "Hybrid Cloud Control Panel".

Introducing Hosting Controller

Hosting Controller is an Enterprise grade complete Private Cloud and Hybrid Cloud Control Panel. It installs on any Private server whether on-premises, in your own data center or even in public clouds like Azure or AWS. Once installed, it connects to the whole span of an Organizations bare-metal servers, virtual machines and other infrastructure and applications on Linux and Windows and enables to manage and control them like a Private Cloud.

All data and applications stay in their place. Hosting Controller is just a control plane layer on top of existing infrastructure.

End users get GUI based dashboards. DevOps get REST APIs for all the tasks that can be performed from the GUI. The UX and DX stay close to be as in Public Cloud.

Repatriating from AWS or Azure Virtual Machines

End-user experience of managing private virtual machines remains very similar to managing their machines in AWS EC2 or Azure Virtual Machines in the public cloud.

Repatriating from Microsoft 365 to Private Exchange / O365 Hybrid Deployment

End-user experience of managing supported applications such as Microsoft Exchange and SharePoint on their private servers remains very similar to managing their messaging and documents in Microsoft 365.

Hosting Controller Microsoft 365 Hybrid Cloud module also enables running private Exchange and other apps in combination with some apps running in Microsoft 365 like Teams and Office.
